My name is Vincent and I'm a Police Technology student. I found this police world very interesting and it has a specific vocabulary around it. People often watch television series about police investigation and can relate to the following terms. All my career I will be using English to interact with the anglophone community, so I better be familiar with the common vocabulary. I use the Merriam Webster dictionary, the Cambridge Dictionary and the website field related to put all together the best definition for each word. Example: There is some serious accusation held against this artist and the truth will be discovered.

Persons confined in prison, jails, and other correctional facilities that house those convicted of crimes.
Example: At Bordeau there is a specific schedules needed to be follow by the inmate. The inmate cannot just wake up at the time they want.

It's the department of people who enforce laws, investigate crimes, and make arrests : the police and people who work to enforce the law. It can also be define by the activity of making certain that the laws of an area are obeyed.
Example: There are a lot of people working for the law enforcement, they need to work all together to achieve their goal of maintaining law and order.

an authoritative command, direction, or instruction. It's not a recommendation but it is mandatory.
Example: If the police is giving you an order you should obey and comply to their demand if you don't want to get in any trouble

the civil force of a national or local government, responsible for the prevention and detection of crime and the maintenance of public order. It's an organization responsible for the maintenance of the peace and to solve and reprimand the crime.
Example: There is people fighting at the corner of the street, someone calls the police and quick.

The action of stopping something from happening or arising. It's acting before something occur. In the police prevention is a key to diminish crime.
Example: Prevention around vulnerable citizen can be very helpful, for example a victim of abuse can be aware of the organisations helping people in their situation.

A thing or things belonging to someone; possessions collectively. It is something owned or possessed. The exclusive right to possess, enjoy, and dispose of a thing. Property give the legal right on something.
Example: Having the property over an object gave you all the power on it, if it's not your own property you have no right on it.

Noun : A person thought to be guilty of a crime or offense.
Verb : : to imagine (one) to be guilty or culpable on slight evidence or without proof.
Example: Noun: You are the main suspect in this case if you have an alibi we should know.
